Improvised Materials art class

For Families with k-8th graders

Join us for an exciting new program designed for families with children in K-8th grade! The GLO Center is partnering with the Springfield Regional Arts Council (SRAC) to bring you a series of monthly art classes.

The first class kicks off on September 4th from 5 PM - 6:30 PM at the GLO Center, featuring teaching artist Leslie Berry. This first class will focus on improvised and recycled materials to make art at home. Parents are invited to attend with their children. The first class will be at GLO but subsequent ones will be at the Creamery Arts Center.

Rainbow Kids: Nature Center Outing

What: Join us at the Nature Center for the program “Reptiles & Amphibians” – featuring live reptiles and amphibians and a focus on the separate species of each group! This activity features an indoor portion and a guided hike, each lasting about 45 minutes.) Who: To give LGBTQ+ families with kids 11 and under an opportunity to meet with each other and connect with nature.This event is for LGBTQ+ kiddos aged 5-11, accompanied by a grownup (this is not a drop-off event – grownups must stay with their kids.) 
When: Saturday, September 28, 2 PM – 4 PM

8 Week - Youth Therapeutic Support Group

What: The GLO Center is partnering with Beyond Healing to offer a new therapeutic support group to provide a safe, open space for adolescents to explore their identities, find community, and develop healthy coping skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. To reserve a spot, email therapy@beyondhealingcenter.com. Who:  For LGBTQIA+ teens ages 14-18. 
When: Every Friday from 6-7 PM, starting September 27th through November 15th.

2024 Annual Meeting

What: The annual meeting is a time for GLO members to come together, elect board members, and celebrate all that we have accomplished this year! 🎉
It will include live music, hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar (which will include non-alcoholic drink options as well). Who: The annual meeting is free for GLO members. If you need clarification on your status as a member, please email aaron@glocenter.org for more information. When: Monday, September 30, 5:30 PM – 8 PM
Where: This year’s annual meeting will happen in a new location (provided upon RSVP).

GLO Banned Book Club

What: Join GLO at our Banned Book Club where we’ll be reading a series of books that have been or could be banned, followed by discussions on the books, novels, and writings. October Book: Native Son by Richard Wright
