QTBIPOC SUPPORT GROUP

QTBIPOC Support Group

QTBIPOC stands for Queer and Transgender Black and Indigenous people and People of Color. This community healing group is a safe, supportive space for queer people of color to share a meal together and build connections. Food is provided for free. We meet monthly on the last Wednesday of the month from 6-8 p.m., and dates may vary around holidays. The meeting is held down the street from The GLO Center at The Third Place, 416 W Commercial.

GLO Old School Group

What: GLO is excited to offer lesbian, gay, bi, and transgender adults aged 50+ opportunities to connect with each other and build community. The Old School Group is a social space where people can meet others, form friendships, and share their life experiences.   Who: Geared towards 50+ but there is no age limit, younger people can attend. When: Saturday, February 15, 4 PM – 6 PM  Where: Big Momma’s Coffee & Espresso Bar

Rainbow Kids: Game Night @ Village Meeple

What: We’re meeting at Village Meeple board game cafe to try out some games and spend time in community together!   Who: Rainbow Kids is GLO’s programming for LGBTQ+ families with kids 11 and under. GLO Movie Night: Pride 2014

What: Join us for a special GLO Center event on Thursday, February 22nd at 4:00 PM at Moxie Cinema, featuring a screening of the inspiring and heartwarming film Pride (2014). This moving film celebrates resilience, unity, and the power of community.  When: Saturday, February 22, 4 PM  Where: The Moxie Cinema, 305 S Campbell Avenue Suite 101 Admission: $3.00 per person. Tickets are first come, first serve.

Rainbow Kids: Surrealism Art Class

What: The GLO Center is partnering with Springfield Regional Arts Council (SRAC) to bring you a series of monthly art classes. This month – surrealism, dream collages and Salvador Dali moustaches! We believe in the power of art to bring communities together and foster understanding and self-expression.  Who: These art classes aim to build social connections among LGBTQ+ families and provide a creative outlet for K-8 children. Women & Non-Binary Support Group

What: The Women & Nonbinary Support Group allows women and woman-aligned folks to come together and build community with each other.
Who:
This group is for queer women and nonbinary people, whether they are butches, femmes, cis, trans, gender nonconforming, or other gender identities to socialize and engage in peer support.

GLO Volunteer Orientation

What: Interested in being a GLO Volunteer? Join us for our Volunteer Orientation! This orientation will familiarize you with the GLO Center’s work and prepare you to be a GLO volunteer. GLO Banned Book Club

What: Join GLO at our Banned Book Club where we’ll be reading a series of books that have been or could be banned, followed by discussions on the books, novels, and writings.  Book: “Catch-22” by Joseph Heller

Men & Non-Binary Support Group

What: To provide men and man-aligned folks the opportunity to come together and build community with each other.
Who:
This group is for queer men and nonbinary people, whether they are cis, trans, gender nonconforming, or other gender identities to socialize and engage in peer support.

Stand-Up for GLO

What: The GLO Center is excited to kick off a brand-new annual fundraiser – Stand Up for GLO! We’re starting this inaugural event with a bang, featuring the incredibly funny and talented headliner, Jared Goldstein!  When: Friday, March 21 & Saturday, March 22 @ 7 PM Where: The Historic Fox Theatre, 157 Park Central Square
