LGBTQIA+ Volunteer Opportunities

Help the GLO Center provide support to the LGBTQIA+ community! We are always looking for folks to help out with our events and otherwise. Examples of volunteer opportunities at GLO include:

  • Help out with events, like Pridefest!
  • Serve on a Committee!
  • Be a center assistant!
  • Become a Peer Support or Community Group Facilitator!
  • Prepare meals for GLO youth, young adults, or for events!
  • Assist with anything else GLO might need!

Volunteer Process

We’re excited that you’re interested in volunteering with The GLO Center! Getting started is simple:

  1. Fill out the Interest Form – Complete the interest form below. After submitting the form, you’ll be redirected to the videos for Step 2.
  2. Watch the Volunteer Orientation Videos
  3. Complete the volunteer application form to set up your Volunteer Portal account.
  4. Wait for your Background Check to be completed – All volunteers must complete a background check. We collect the information we need to run a basic background screening in the application.

When your background screening comes back, GLO staff will approve your Volgistics account, and you’ll be ready to start volunteering with GLO!

Thank you for wanting to make a difference in our community! The volunteer orientation video will explain how to sign up for your first shift.

Banned Book Club

What: For May, we will be reading the graphic novel “They Called Us Enemy” by George Takei. It is about Takei’s experiences during the internment of Japanese Americans in World War II. The book has been frequently banned and challenged in school districts across the country.

Monthly Resource Evening

What: Each month, we’ll open our doors to provide helpful resources and connect our community with trusted partners and services. May resources include the food pantry, APO overdose prevention & testing, Harmony House representative, and the RISE program by Drew Lewis Foundation.
