Basic Information:

  • Reports to: Executive Director
  • Status: Full-time, In person
  • $16/hour + Health/Dental/Vision/Life (100% employer-paid premiums)

*Due to the nature of this position, most of the work cannot be completed virtually.

Job Summary:

The GLO Center is seeking a Program Coordinator to lead The GLO Center’s support group program, youth, family, and adult programs, and assist in arts, culture, and community building efforts. This role is all about making sure our community feels supported, connected, and empowered. From organizing events to building strong relationships, this position will be at the heart of the meaningful work that is central to The GLO Center. This position will help to staff the GLO Center, provide outreach at community events, and assist with GLO events and fundraisers including Ozarks Pridefest. They will work closely with the Executive Director, staff, and Board of Directors.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with all support group facilitators to build relationships with participants and provide assistance as needed
  • Support and coordinate youth, family, and adult programming at The GLO Center
    Collaborate with local schools to support Gay/Straight Alliances and other LGBTQIA+-affirming student groups
  • Assist with GLO’s social media and communications related to program promotion and engagement
  • Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures for GLO’s volunteer program
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and coordinate volunteers for committees, Center operations, programs, and events
  • Build relationships with queer-owned and ally businesses and organizations for initiatives such as the Ozarks Inclusion Project and other community-building opportunities
  • Assist with staffing and logistics for GLO events, fundraisers, and outreach activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of GLO’s mission

Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • Commitment to The GLO Center’s mission and values
  • Commitment to anti-racism.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, ages, socio-economic statuses, immigration statuses, and gender identities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience engaging and working with youth
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of local community resources strongly preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overtime as needed

We are seeking someone who enjoys engaging with youth, working in social and public-facing environments, and learning about services available to LGBTQIA+ youth and adults in the Ozarks. A genuine desire to engage the local LGBTQ+ community and contribute both publicly and behind the scenes is essential.

Candidates should have prior experience working or volunteering with youth, communities of color, community-based organizations, socio-economically disadvantaged populations, and/or LGBTQ+ communities.

Mahjong Lessons @ Game Night 🎋

What: Starting on Friday, January 16, Game Night will have the Midwest Mahjong Society out for 3 weeks to teach Mahjong lessons to anyone who is interested! Join us in a safe and inclusive space to enjoy playing games of your choice and meet some new friends. Open to all ages! Feel free to bring your own games or play the ones we have at the center.
