GLO Food Pantry aims to bridge the gap in services for food-insecure LGBTQIA+ families, individuals, and children by offering food and other vital items in a safe and affirming environment where safety is of the utmost importance.

Income Eligibility Guidelines

  • 300% of Federal Poverty Guidelines Effective April 1, 2025

Requirements for the GLO food pantry

  • A resident of SW Missouri
  • Bring income verification for all members of the household. (Form 1040, Pay Stub, Bank Statement, etc)
  • Verification of age (State Issued ID, Passport, Birth certificate, Point of Service ID)
  • Bring a piece of mail less than 30 days old to each visit
  • A self-identified member of the LGBTQ+ population.

 For households larger than 8 people, add $1,344 for each additional member.

Process

Step 1

Consultation

All individuals seeking services will start with an initial consultation to determine eligibility. This interview will take place before the first pick-up.

Step 2

Pick Up Items

Once approved, clients will be able to pick-up food items from the pantry 2 times per month: 

  • 1 pick up before the 15th of the month and
  • 1 pick up after the 15th of the month.

The food pantry will be open for pick-up on Wednesdays from 9am to 12pm except for holidays.

Resource Navigation

A client-centered resource navigation program focusing on LGBTQ+ needs.

Bus Passes

Bus Passes are available to assist clients with transportation to appointments and meetings.

Crisis Cold Weather Shelter

Thursday & Sunday nights, Nov. - Mar. when temps are below 32°.

Translation Services

Our program is pleased to offer Translation Services, including American Sign Language.

Resource Lists

We maintain up-to-date resource lists to share with GLO visitors seeking info on various topics.

Banned Book Club

What: For May, we will be reading the graphic novel “They Called Us Enemy” by George Takei. It is about Takei’s experiences during the internment of Japanese Americans in World War II. The book has been frequently banned and challenged in school districts across the country.

Monthly Resource Evening

What: Each month, we’ll open our doors to provide helpful resources and connect our community with trusted partners and services. May resources include the food pantry, APO overdose prevention & testing, Harmony House representative, and the RISE program by Drew Lewis Foundation.
